One day hike near valley - Bishnudwar (Shivapuri National Park)

Bishnudwar, known to be  the origin of Bishnumati river is a beautiful destination for hiking near Kathmandu Valley. Hike to Bishnudwar is a thrilling experience. You can experience the beauty of nature as you walk through the jungle all the way to Bishnudwar. You can see many trees and waterfalls on the way. You can also see a few wild animals if you got lucky as it is located deep inside the National Park.

To reach Bishnudwar, you should go through the gate of Shivpuri national park. For that,  you can directly take a private vehicle or taxi to the gate of the national park or you can take a public vehicle up to Budhanilkantha and you can walk right from there. You have to take a ticket from the counter and walk or go by vehicle up to Bishnudwar.

How to reach Bishnudwar?

After crossing that waterfall, you can see a board showing the turn to reach Bishnudwar away from the path. You have to climb a few steps of ladder and turn right and go forward until you see the wooden bridge. Just follow the bridge and you will get to Bishnudwar where you will find the beautiful monuments decorated in the cave-like structure. The place may be a little cold compared to the way you have walked in. The vibe of nature with the stream of the water will make you feel amazing.
You should go through Budhanilkantha and go uphill to the gate of the national park. First you will find a Y-junction from where you have to take your right. After that, there are multiple ways to reach the gate from Budhanilkantha. Just make sure you are going uphill.
When you reach the gate, you have to buy a ticket to go beyond the gate. You can take your vehicle by paying an extra charge for the vehicle. If you are thinking of a hike then the charge is just 125 rupees and if you are willing to be there soon on your own vehicle then the charge is more according to the vehicle you are taking up. For two-wheelers, it is 100 rupees (NC) extra and for the four-wheelers, it is around 200. You will be asked for a ticket along with the registration.

After entering the gate, you can follow the pathway for a better direction. Following the path, after about 10-15 minutes, you will see one Y junction  where you can see the board showing ways to various destinations . One of them is the way to Bishnudwar. From there, turn left and walk straight to the path. On the right is Bagdwar the origin of Bagmati river and nagi gumba.
Just follow the path on the left through the jungle. You will have to cross a few small rivers on the way. There are many waterfalls but one waterfall tells you that you are close to the Bishnudwar. It’s the biggest waterfall on the way you can see.

After this waterfall, you will find the stairway which will lead you to the place you are trying to reach. About 10 minutes later from there you will find the place to Bishnudwar with a number of  wooden bridges.

The hike is about 2-3 hours. There are not any junction or any other extra ways so that there will not be any confusion for the way.
