Chandragiri - Chitlang Trek

Chandragiri is now become a most beautiful destination for a day holiday for both trekkers and non-trekkers. You can find a cable-car to reach Chandragiri which will cost about 700 per person but discounted on weekdays and for the nepalese student. You can even buy one way ticket.

First you have to take a ride to Thankot if you are in a public vehicle or you can directly reach to Chandragiri gate on your private vehicles. If you take a public vehicle then take a stop for Chandragiri in Naikap area then you have to go to your left side which is upward slope. You can take a pitch road for easiness which will directly take you to the Chandragiri gate. Or you can take shortcuts by the stiff stairs.

If you are willing to go from the cable car then you can go by the gate and move upwards where you can see the ticket counter which will offer you ticket with different discounts for different peoples. The ride is about 10 minutes on the cable car which will lead you to the beautiful destination.

The other way to Chandragiri is the hiking route which is about 3-5 hours long according to your hiking ability. For hiking, you have to take small trekking way on the right side of the Chandragiri gate. Go along with that narrow way upwards most probably. On the way you can find small community and different tea shops.

When you are going forward there you can find the multiple ways of 4 roads. From there you have to take leftmost of yours which also have a teashop on its side. There you will find the stairway which you have to follow to the end. On the starting you will find the camp where you have to register you name and contact number as the entrance registration which is absolutely free. The stairway may be moistened and a bit slippery so be careful on that. Also, there is possibility of leech on that scenario. On the end of the stairway you will find the small gate which will leads you to the amazing Chandragiri park.
You can even enjoy the sunrise or sunset from there. Not only that, you also can see the whole valley from the elevation of 2551 meters above.

The way is not confusing but if you are confused then you can ask people over there or you can watch upward to the Chandragiri temple and turn towards that for reference.

If you have time and want to stay on Chitlang then you can come back from the same stairway you have gone to reach Chandragiri until the junction of four ways.

From there you have to go to the left which is going downwards. You can follow the way developed for the vehicles or you can take a shortcut of the hiking way which is facing downward.

If you are following the hiking route then you can find the open space ground where you can rest. You can barely find tea shops or any shops on the way to Chitlang so if you are going from there you should take a bottle of water and some food. It will take upto 4-5 hours to reach the place.
